Unlearning as a queer Pacific Islander has been both painful and freeing.

Because so many of us were handed rules about who we were allowed to be, who we were allowed to love, what we were allowed to say out loud, and what parts of ourselves we had 🌈 Being queer in a traditional family can feel like you’re constantly walking a line, between being seen and being silent. Between being loved and being “too much.”

But you were never meant to be torn in half.

A lot of us grew up seeing money as a way to show love, support, and responsibility. So when you start setting limits, it can feel uncomfortable… even wrong.

“Where are you really from?” is something a lot of people have heard, but it doesn’t always feel as simple as it sounds.

For many people, especially those who are mixed or grew up between cultures, it can bring up deeper questions We normalize stress so easily that we stop realizing how much it’s hurting us.
